Phillips Academy is looking for Lifeguards to support our Athletic and Community Recreation Aquatic programs. Multiple part-time positions available with flexible hours that include Monday – Friday afternoons 3:30PM – 8:00PM and varying weekend shifts when school is in session, and extended weekday and weekend hours during the summer. 
Certification and Licensing Requirements:

<li>Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate, or equivalent nationally recognized certification</li>
<li>American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED Certification for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent nationally recognized certification</li>

Qualifications and Skills:

<li>16+ years of age with lifeguarding experience preferred.</li>

<li>Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of the visitors and other staff.</li>
<li>Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety.</li>

ESSENTIAL DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)

<li>Guest safety is the most important concern of the lifeguard. All lifeguards should do everything possible to maintain an accident-free environment by watching for potential problems proactively.</li>
<li>Every lifeguard has the responsibility of covering their assigned zone using the 10/20 scanning rule. This means that the lifeguard has 10 seconds to recognize a problem within their zone and 20 seconds to respond to and reach that problem. </li>
<li>Monitoring and maintaining control over queue areas and slide towers.</li>
<li>Ensuring that the waterpark is clean and free from trash.</li>
<li>Performing daily opening and closing duties as assigned.</li>
<li>Supervises and provides surveillance of swimmers and guests during park hours and special events. </li>
<li>Enforces the rules and regulations and renders appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.</li>
<li>Advises aquatics management of unsafe and unsanitary conditions. </li>
<li>Possesses a general knowledge of the activity pools and flume attractions.</li>
<li>Assists guests in a polite and expedient manner.</li>
<li>Performs daily routine chores and maintenance of waterpark to ensure neat and orderly appearance. </li>
<li>Handles and communicates with guests on a one-on-one basis in a professional, courteous manner. </li>
<li>Maintains a businesslike atmosphere in the Guard area at all times.</li>
<li>Maintains a clean and neat appearance and professional conduct at all times.</li>

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

<li>Must obtain certification in First Aid, CPR and NPWLTP</li>
<li>Must pass Ellis &amp; Associates Lifeguard Training</li>
<li>Must be comfortable in water and able to swim 50 yards</li>
<li>Must be able to recover a 10 pound brick from 4 feet of water</li>
<li>Must be 16 years of age</li>
<li>Must have full availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays</li>
