Job Description
Safe Roads Driving Academy, Inc. is seeking a patient, enthusiastic individual to join our coaching team of professional Firefighters, Correctional Officers, Teachers, Youth Councilors, and Police Officers.
Our coaching team prepares teens to drive defensively.
The coaching team delivers lessons promoting the students theoretical and applied driving skills, ultimately preparing the student driver for successful completion of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles Class D Road Test Examination, while employing effective defensive driving techniques.
We share the roadways with the new young drivers, and we strive to teach the novice drivers roadway etiquette, driving laws, and defensive driving skills.
The in-car coaching team member will work with students coming from very diverse backgrounds who live, work, and play in the community.
Classroom instruction will take place at the Safe Roads Driving Academy main office in Fitchburg or at a branch location. The coaching team member will be provided with support staff and material to deliver the best possible new driver curriculum. All team members have the ability to attend continuing education courses provided by National, Regional and State Driver Education Associations.
Safe Roads Driving Academy is an approved Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles Professional Driving Instructor training center and provides the instructor training at no cost to instructor candidates.

Driving Instructor Requirements:
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Valid Driver’s License
· Valid Instructor certification – willing to train right individual
- RMV exam required
· Clean Driving Record – last 5 years
· No Criminal History – CORI Check required
· Excellent verbal and written communication
· Patience and Enthusiasm
· Ability to remain calm under pressure
Driving Instructor Responsibilities:
· Preparing lessons that are tailored to students’ needs.
· Providing instruction on the parts and functions of a vehicle,
and on-road regulations.
· Teaching practical skills related to all aspects of driving.
· Helping students to develop confidence in their driving skills.
· Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations.
· Calming students who are in destress
· Documenting and reporting on students’ progress
· Informing students when they are ready to take the driver’s test.
· Reporting all crashes and incidents to the driving school.
Registry Training and Certification Requirements
The minimum requirements of training required by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles includes the following;
· 30 Hour Driver Education Course
· 15 Hours of Student Classroom Teaching
· 15 Hours of In - Car Observation
· 2 Hour Parent Class
RMV Exam - After the above requirements have been completed, instructor candidates are required to take a written knowledge exam at the RMV. The exam is similar to a permit test and is a mandatory requirement to become certified and receive a Massachusetts driver instructor license.
