The City of Dover is seeking an individual to perform professional work in the area of fitness and aerobic instruction. This instruction is done in classes in the water using accepted fitness, and aerobic techniques. Individual must be able to safely teach and demonstrate all skills being required of the students. These positions assist or instruct groups and related lessons for FMC learn to skate and/or learn to play programs. We have established a record of quality operations and have grown to be the largest operator of public arenas in the United States. FMC operates 25 public ice-skating arenas across the state of Massachusetts in long-term partnership agreements with the Commonwealth and various municipalities as well as educational institutions.
 
FMC is looking for Lead Instructors to work under the general supervision of each program's Supervisor. These positions assist or instruct groups and related lessons for FMC learn to skate and/or learn to play programs. General responsibilities will include interacting with children and adults, demonstrating proper skating techniques, and performing various customer experience related duties.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Effectively uses customer service skills to control customer interactions.</li>
<li>Educates the public to the habits and attitudes of safe ice activities.</li>
<li>Accurately evaluates placements of students for skating instructions.</li>
<li>Prepares/completes program documents like attendance, recommendations, etc.</li>
<li>Enforcement of all rules regarding rink policies and operating procedures.</li>
<li>Executes policies and procedures professionally and accurately.</li>
<li>Maintains a clean and safe environment for patrons and staff.</li>
<li>Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Program Supervisor on time.</li>
<li>Attends scheduled staff meetings.</li>
<li>Performs any other related or similar duty as assigned.</li>
</ul>
This is a part-time position. Most FMC programs are held in the afternoon, evenings, and on weekends. Dates and time for programs may vary.
Requirements:
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Previous experience assisting or teaching skating classes is preferred.</li>
<li>Applicants must be able to ice skate proficiently. Figure skaters should have achieved and passed ISI Freestyle 4 or USFS Freeskate 4 and up. Hockey players should have participated in multiple years of formal league play.</li>
</ul>
Compensation: Base pay range: $22 - $32 per hour for on ice work. Pay based on experience and industry qualifications. Pay range for work performed off ice is $16-$17 per hour based on Instructor level.
