Job Summary
The Legal Assistant works alongside their Attorney, handling cases in the Pre-Litigation phase while maintaining an open line of communication with clients, providers, and inter office teams.
Responsibilities and Duties

<li>Daily interaction with clients, insurance companies, and medical providers via phone, email, or in-person.</li>
<li>Research and locate all possible Defendants and Insurance coverage.</li>
<li>Request and follow up with gathering supporting documents. Including, but not limited to police reports, 911 calls, Insurance policies, medical records, bills and/or Liens, etc.</li>
<li>Review, upload, and process daily correspondence delivered via email, fax or through our paperless software. </li>
<li>Schedule and maintain Attorney’s calendar. </li>
<li>Attend client meetings with Attorney. </li>
<li>Ensure cases are updated as needed with all information including, but not limited to Treatment information, gathering of records and bills, confirming insurance coverages and/or liens, confirm all medical providers have insurance information for billing purposes, verify balances, requesting and processing of PIP logs, etc.&nbsp; </li>
<li>Preparing demands and closing statements.</li>

Summary
New England Conservatory (NEC), a global leader in music education, seeks an experienced and strategic Chief Legal Officer and Special Advisor to the President. Reporting to the President and serving on the Council of Executive Plus Chief Officers, this position will serve as a critical resource for the institution, providing comprehensive legal guidance and acting as a key strategic partner to ensure the organization operates in a safe, ethical, and legal manner, adhering to a wide range of federal and state statutes, controlling judicial rulings, regulations, and guidance documents and implementing internal policies to ensure compliance with all applicable legal obligations

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the in-house legal advisor to the President, Executive Council, Chief Officers, and Board of Trustees, frankly and fully advising on all matters impacting risk management and legal compliance, including emerging and developing law and agency guidance.

Anticipate and identify potential legal risks, developing and implementing effective and timely strategies to mitigate them. 
</li>
<li>
Identify, oversee, and manage outside counsel relationships as needed, including the effective management of budgets in legal assignments and oversight of litigation matters to ensure efficiency and economy in external counsel’s representation. 
</li>

<li>
Compliance and Risk Management:

Bring legal expertise and perspective to enterprise risk management, actively participating in risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts across the institution, including all necessary policy implementation and associated training of NEC personnel.

Draft and review contracts and institutional policies and procedures.

Play a central role in emergency planning and management, ensuring legal considerations are understood and integrated into all preparedness and response protocols.

Qualifications:
