OVERVIEW:
At Children’s Services of Roxbury (CSR), our mission is to bring peace of mind to children and families across Massachusetts. CSR was founded in 1972 and now serves more than 6,000 families annually across Massachusetts in 5 key service areas: housing for homeless families, foster care, early education, behavioral health, and youth development.
Youth, Purpose &amp; Partnership (YPP) is a year-round leadership development, civic engagement, and workforce development program founded in 1995, as Youth &amp; Police in Partnership, in response to rampant youth homicides and gang violence afflicting Boston. In 2023, led by youth voice, YPP redesigned and refined programming, deepening emphasis on building capacity of young people of color in media production skills and creating digital storytelling projects, opening access to careers in Boston’s burgeoning STEM economy. YPP is designed to build a digital creative community led by and for young people of color. Through YPP young people build and grow communications skills, gain work experience and credentials, and establish and progress towards personal and professional goals. The program is divided into two groups based on experience and age.
Community Peer Leaders programming focuses on developing young people’s research and storytelling skills through photo and audio storytelling of the history and current status of the neighborhood. The Peer Leaders will need to convey in their design why YPP exists. The modules will need to be both engaging and include historical contexts of Boston and this neighborhood while expressing current challenges people in this neighborhood face. These modules will be used for the Fall of 2023, both recruitment and training of the next group of YPP community peer leaders. 
Dialogue Peer Leaders programming includes developing the skills to facilitate an intergenerational dialogue and will build the technical skills of video storytelling. The Dialogue Peer Leaders will use video to engage a broader audience about an issue they care about in the community and to share the dialogue they host and facilitate to a broader audience.
 
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
YPP Peer Leader: (ages 14-18)

<li>Lead and/or participate in dialogues (virtually &amp; in-person) about community issues with peers, community members, local leaders and law enforcement</li>
<li>Participate in trainings/workshops related to leadership development, life skills, academic and career development</li>
<li>Participate in and/or complete projects centered on civic engagement, community service and volunteerism as needed </li>

ABOUT YPP: Youth, Purpose, and Partnership (YPP) is a peer leadership initiative that employs young people from local communities to connect with community members through dialogue and storytelling, all while enhancing their workplace, technical, and leadership skills. YPP utilizes multimedia methods, including audio and film production, along with in-person youth-led discussions, to foster relationships among peers and within the community, driving meaningful change. YPP peer leaders collaborate with various resources and community partners to gain insights about the city and to help shape the vision they have for their community.
Summary:
The Peer Leader Supervisor (Summer) will serve as a key role of support and guidance for youth peer leaders (ages 14-18) employed at YPP. Under supervision of the YPP leadership staff Program the Peer Leader Supervisor will be primarily responsible for maintaining structure, curriculum and policies of the Youth, Purpose &amp; Partnership Summer Program. They will work to develop project plans and support each peer leader to design and track progress against a work plan. YPP’s school year program runs approximately 24 weeks between October and May*; summer program runs 6-8 weeks for the Peer Leaders. Peer Leader Supervisors candidates must be available to start no later one week before programming and up to one week after programming ends. Peer Leader Supervisors are paid $20/hour and work a maximum of 15 hours a week during the school year and a maximum of 25 hours a week during the summer. School year schedule: Monday - Friday 4:30p-7:30p; Summer schedule: Mondays from 9:30a-11:30a; Tuesday-Friday 9:00am – 3:30pm*

Responsibilities include:

<li>Manage peer leader projects and supervise peer leaders </li>
<li>Develop and teach lessons plans for workshops (using multimedia)</li>
<li>Organize, develop, and run recreational activities for peer leaders</li>
<li>Monitor and provide supervision during field trips or off-site activities</li>
<li>Participate in staff trainings, professional development or special events as needed</li>
<li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li>
</ul>
Ideal candidates will have:
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>Good Verbal and written communications skills </li>
<li>Experience working with youth (Not required but preferred)</li>
<li>Interest or experience using multimedia or digital technology (Plus but not preferred)</li>
<li>Able to pass a background check which includes CORI, SORI, and Drug Testing.</li>
<li>Candidate should be creative, flexible, and personable</li>
<li>An energetic go-getter with a bright spirit</li>
<li>An individual who loves achieving targets and aspiring towards an excellent experience with youth </li>
