As a qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will use your mechanic knowledge and hands-on expertise to repair and maintain drill equipment, hoe-rams, skids steers, and various other equipment, both in a garage environment and at various job sites in the surrounding region.
That means that you will be expected to:
Replace and repair broken equipment; Perform PM on equipment; Trouble shoot mechanical equipment and systems such as motors, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components; Follow all Company safety policies and procedures; Perform field services and repairs on various equipment; Coordinate with Equipment Manager on needed parts &amp; supplies necessary to repair and rebuild items; Use and operate all hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner; View safety as paramount and pro-actively identify safety hazards; Complete accurate required maintenance documents and records; Participate in Equipment Manager meetings as needed; Other duties as assigned.

Must have own hand tools up to 1 5/8 or be willing to invest in tools as needed; Must have good driving record; Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Card; Ability to pass ATF screenings; Ability to perform all essential functions of the position; Physical ability to lift 50 - 100 lbs., 30 - 40% of the time, with stooping and bending 30 - 40% of the time Physical ability to work outside on uneven and loose surfaces in varying weather environments.
About You
This is a mid- level mechanic position, and as such you are most likely a high school or technical school graduate that is preferably ASE certified in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance. You will also bring at least 3-5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience to go along with it. You are a self-starter and have the ability to work with limited supervision. You possess core skills, such as mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics, diesel motors, welding, electrical systems, and PLC skills. You may also be recently separated from Military service and looking for an opportunity that will value your self-discipline and standards for safety and excellence. But honestly, this is not the only blueprint for success at MD&amp;B. <li>Drain oil from crankcase and refill with required amount of oil; replace oil and air filters.</li>
<li>Inspect vehicle fluid levels and replace or replenish as necessary.</li>
<li>Check tire pressure and add air if needed.</li>
<li>Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.</li>
<li>Keep shop area neat and clean.</li>
<li>Maintain accountability for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.</li>
<li>Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.</li>
<li>Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership.</li>
<li>Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.</li>
<li>Diagnose, maintain and repair vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.</li>
<li>Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are well-informed of any additional services needed.</li>
<li>Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.</li>
<li>Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.</li>
</ul>
Requirements: 
<ul>
<li>Genuine desire to serve the team as a "team player"</li>
<li>Diesel qualified and certified, including Diagnostic, Electrical and Engine Repair preferred but not required</li>
<li>Willingness to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications</li>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>Strong physical dexterity for working with tools</li>
<li>Able to operate electronic diagnostic equipment</li>
<li>Excellent customer service skills, positive, friendly attitude</li>
<li>Strong communication skills, collaborates well with others</li>
<li>Punctual and reliable Eagerness to improve</li>
<li>Basic computer skills</li>
<li>Military experience welcomed but not necessary</li>
<li>Enjoy working in a fast paced environment</li>

Job Description
We have a shop position for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Shirley, Massachusetts. This role is with a well established company and is responsible for maintaining Military heavy equipment. Excellent opportunity for mechanics/technicians seeking a long term career within a stable sector. Day shift, 6:30am - 5:00pm (Monday to Thursday).

Duties:
<ul>
<li>Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and rebuild a variety of military heavy equipment and vehicles</li>
<li>Operate/inspect equipment to diagnose issues</li>
<li>Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hosts and hand tools</li>
<li>Use of micrometers and gauges</li>
<li>Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmission</li>
<li>Welds broken parts and structural members</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Two years of hands-on experience working on heavy duty military vehicles or heavy equipment</li>
<li>Graduated from any Vehicle, Equipment, or Power Generation Mechanic Advanced Individual Training (AIT) e.g., 91 Series Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) or other DOD equivalent training.</li>
<li>Or possession of certificate from a Vocational Technical School for vehicle or equipment mechanic</li>
<li>Ability to acquire CDL</li>
