About YOU: Our employees have the opportunity to be trained anywhere from a swim instructor to a swim coach. You love being in the water and educating kids of all ages! <li>All Swim Instructors will be required to complete a minimum of one full group session of training with the Owner or another Lead and will be supervised while instructing</li>
<li>Leads beginner group swim lessons while enforcing pool policies, rules, and regulations</li>
<li>Maintains constant supervision of students, will identify students who need assistance, and supports students as necessary to ensure a positive learning environment</li>
<li>Adheres to policies and procedures in organizational guidelines, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency incidents</li>

Requirements:
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma</li>
<li>Must have or be willing to obtain CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding Certificate</li>
<li>Must have clean CORI and SORI background check</li>
<li>Ability to recognize and remedy hazardous and dangerous situations</li>
<li>Ability to swim in shallow and deep water and tread water</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm</li>
<li>Ability to recognize students who may need assistance</li>
<li>Ability to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, lifejackets, etc.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree</li>
<li>1-3 years of experience on a competitive swim team</li>
<li>1-3 years of experience as a swim team coach</li>
<li>1-3 years of experience as a swim instructor</li>
</ul>
Work Environment
The Swim Instructor must remain indoors at a facility pool with water and air temperatures of 75 degrees or higher at all times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to chemicals and fumes.
 
Physical Demands
Walks, runs, sits, stands, bends, lifts, swims and moves continually during working hours; is subject to lifting over 50 pounds. Must remain alert and able to recognize distress signals.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position and hours will vary. Targeting Sunday hours.

<li>Prevent emergencies by scanning the pool in a continuous and consistent manner.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Recognize emergencies or potential incidents and address them immediately.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Know and activate the branch and pool EAP when needed.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Perform assists or rescues as needed.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Provide care such as, CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen as needed.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Complete incident reports in a timely and effective manner.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Enforce pool rules. Handle issues as they arise in a professional manner.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ensure a clean and safe pool environment at all times.&nbsp;</li>
<li>When off the stand, assist with cleaning and testing of the pool.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintain a clear and consistent line of communication with all supervisors.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Participate in all branch safety and quality drills.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Attend all required monthly and yearly in-service trainings.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Arrive 10 minutes prior to start of scheduled shift.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Make sure all doors are securely locked when a lifeguard is not on duty. Never leave the pool unattended.&nbsp;</li>
<li>All change in hours will be in writing and signed by consenting parties. You are responsible for finding your own coverage.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual’s goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.&nbsp;</li>
