About Timm Swimm Inc. dba Danvers YMCA Dolfins: We are entering our fourth season as a year-round competitive Swim Team. We are currently, predominately a 13 &amp; Under technique focused swim program looking to take the next step in the development of the program. We currently have three practice groups: Junior Academy (6-12), Academy White (7-12), Academy Red (9-13). The Dolfins practice out of the Danvers Community YMCA (5 lanes/25 yards) and Gordon College (6 lanes/25 yards) locations. With the backing of the Swimm with Timm swim lesson program, the program has rapidly expanded the Academy since it was initiated in 2020 to approximately 70 members, while the Junior Academy has stayed a consistent 30 swimmers throughout the season. We are separate, yet associated with the Danvers Community YMCA so we have the advantage of also getting to swim the season as a YMCA team and go to YMCA Championship meets as well as USA Swimming events.
About YOU: Our employees have the opportunity to be trained anywhere from a swim instructor to a swim coach. You love being in the water and educating kids of all ages! Instructors should have a minimum of two years’ group childcare, teaching, or coaching experience and be willing to obtain CPR, first aid, and lifesaving certifications within the first six months of employment.
We are also looking for professional coaches that have strong experience working with Age Group swimmers, with Junior and Senior level swimmer experience preferred. Time will be spent on deck coaching and running dry land practices as directed by the Head Coach. Job DescriptionStatement of Duties
Under the direction of the Head Lifeguard and/or the Pool Manager/Assistant Pool Manager in the Parks &amp; Recreation Department the Lifeguard creates a safe and welcoming atmosphere while promoting and maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with Departmental policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:

<li>Closely monitors activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout shift.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or in danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Perform all maintenance as assigned.</li>
<li>Other related duties as assigned.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: 0-1+ years of experience as a Lifeguard. Experience interacting with people of various ages with diverse backgrounds. Must be 16+ to apply.
Certifications: &nbsp;First Aid/AED. Required: American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard certification (or similar).
Knowledge, Abilities and Skill 
Knowledge: Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules. Knowledge of CPR and water rescue methods and techniques.
Ability: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to provide lifesaving rescue. Ability to work professionally with members, volunteers and staff.
Skill: Highly skilled in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Excellent conflict resolution and communication skills. Multilingual skills in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian-Creole, Mandarin, and/or Nepali is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
Covers work that requires some agility and physical strength, such as moving in or about construction sites or over rough terrain or standing or walking most of the work period.&nbsp; Occasionally, work may require lifting heavy objects and carrying them.&nbsp; There may be a need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials.&nbsp; Usually, the work will require extended physical effort over a significant portion of the workday.
