Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary students in a contract position with an immediate start date. This full-time opportunity (30+ hours per week) is ideal for skilled paraprofessionals who thrive in collaborative classroom environments. You’ll work closely with both educators and students, offering hands-on assistance in a variety of settings—including classroom groups, 1:1 support, and inclusion to intensive autism classrooms.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional, especially in school settings
- Ability to effectively provide support in inclusive and special education environments
- Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and experience supporting students with intensive needs is highly valued
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with teachers and engage students
- Reliability and adaptability to changing classroom dynamics
- Dedication to fostering student growth, independence, and participation
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting teachers with lesson implementation and classroom management
- Providing direct support to students, both in group and individual settings
- Engaging with students in inclusion and intensive autism classrooms, helping them access the curriculum and classroom activities
- Monitoring student progress and communicating observations to teaching staff
- Aiding with transitions, following behavior intervention plans, and supporting students’ social-emotional development
- Creating a positive, encouraging atmosphere within the classroom
