Field Data Collector Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Principal Research Director, the Field Data Collector will support the evaluation team by collecting high-quality data from Maryland residents through in-person, virtual, and phone-based surveys. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Conducting accurate, complete, and culturally responsive surveys with assigned respondents.
· Following all project protocols and adhering to confidentiality and ethical standards.
· Engaging effectively and respectfully with diverse and vulnerable populations.
· Maintaining flexible availability to conduct surveys at different times of day based on project needs.
· Ensuring all surveys meet quality standards and submitting completed work for review and approval.
· Documenting field activity with precision, including mileage logs, survey status, and respondent information.
· Maintaining consistent communication with project leadership.
· Complying with safety guidelines and maintaining required transportation and insurance.
· Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Reliable, working vehicle suitable for field travel.\
· Valid automobile insurance meeting Maryland state minimum liability requirements.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow structured protocols.
· Experience engaging with community members and maintaining professionalism in field settings.
· High attention to detail and ability to ensure data accuracy.
Preferred Skills:
- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency, with Spanish fluency strongly preferred; ability to conduct surveys in Spanish is highly desirable.
- Previous experience conducting survey-based or field-based data collection, particularly in public health, community research, or social services.
- Experience working with vulnerable, underserved, or hard-to-reach populations (e.g., low-income households, older adults, individuals with health challenges, minority communities).
- Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to build rapport across diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with mobile data collection platforms or tablet-based survey systems.
- Ability to manage sensitive information confidentially.
- Comfort navigating community environments independently.
- Demonstrated reliability, adaptability, and strong problem-solving skills in field settings.
