Step into a contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher within a close-knit, energetic school community near White River Junction, VT. This role supports a vibrant 5/6 school setting that is recognized for its dynamic staff and well-developed support systems. As part of a team led by a principal with special education expertise, you’ll help shape academic and personal growth for approximately 22 students with mild to moderate specific learning disabilities, focusing on math and literacy.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid licensure or certification to teach Special Education
- Demonstrated experience working with students with mild to moderate SLD, especially in grades 5 and 6
- Strong skills differentiating instruction and developing IEPs to target students’ academic and behavioral needs
- Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills for partnering with interventionists, counselors, classroom teachers, and families
- Familiarity with data-driven instruction and progress monitoring
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction in math and literacy to students identified with SLD, modifying curriculum as needed
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate closely with the full-time interventionist, SEL counselor, and classroom teachers to support student success
- Participate in team meetings and share insights with staff to foster a supportive, solutions-oriented environment
- Maintain accurate records and communicate progress clearly to families and the educational team
