Job Overview:

Are you passionate about nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning? Do you believe in the magic of childhood exploration and discovery? If so, we invite you to embark on an exciting journey with us at Discovery Village! As an Atelierista, you'll play a vital role in creating an enriching environment where children aged 4 months to 5 years can thrive and grow using the renowned Reggio Emilia approach. You will be a member of our Pedagogical Team, working closely with our Reggio Emilia coach mentoring and supporting our educators as they continue to learn and adopt the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspire Wonder:Spark curiosity and wonder in young hearts by ensuring children have opportunities to use new art mediums and explore themes of interest.
  • Nurture Growth:Cultivate a supportive and stimulating learning atmosphere where children can flourish emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
  • Be a Mentor:Serve as a guiding light for children as they explore the world around them, encouraging independence, problem-solving, and self-expression, as well as an inspiration to our educators.
  • Embrace Creativity:Foster a love for art, music, storytelling, and imaginative play to unlock each child's unique potential.
  • Create Connections:Collaborate with fellow educators, parents, and the community to ensure holistic development and personalized learning experiences for every child.
  • Elevate Education: Actively document and interpret the childrens learning processes, making learning visible through written narratives, photographs, videos, etc.
  • Enhance Environment: Oversee the Atelier (art room), creating an organized and inspiring environment in which children may engage in small group work. Making the childrens learning visible through documentation.
  • Encourage Growth: Inspire our educators to learn and grow with the Reggio-Emilia philosophy. Work closely with our Reggio-Emilia coach to support, encourage and develop the strengths of our teachers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or some college education in early childhood, art education, fine arts or related field.
  • Fluency and experience working with a variety of artistic materials, mediums and tools.
  • Ability to mentor and inspire our adult educators
  • Experience working with young children
  • Passionate about or eager to learn about the Reggio Emilia Philosophy.
  • EEC certification preferred and background clearance.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification, along with recent physical examination documentation.
  • Gentle, nurturing personality with a genuine love for children.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.

Salary, Benefits & Hours:

  • Salary range - $26+ per hour, commensurate with experience, education and EEC teacher qualification level

  • Hours: Part Time or Full Time 10-40 hrs./wk. 9:00am 6:00pm
