Job Description

Sea Tow Boston & South Shore is seeking seasonal, full-time USCG-licensed operators for our assistance towboats in Boston Harbor, and the North and South Shores. Candidates must have a US Coast Guard license (with assistance towing endorsement), be customer service oriented, love spending time on the water, have exceptional boat handling abilities and be detail and safety oriented.

- Requires valid USCG Captain’s license with Commercial Assistance Towing endorsement, unless exempt by tonnage (200 and above). Near Coastal endorsement preferred, but Inland licenses may be considered.

- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test (must be enrolled in a random drug testing program during employment)

- Excellent boat handling skills necessary, towing training will be provided.

- Ability to use electronic technology (tablets) to efficiently provide service.

- Professional appearance and able to make sound decisions under pressure.

- Able to work weekends, holidays and some overnight on-call periods. Schedule will be balanced and fair.

- Able to serve on a 25' to 30' towboat for up to 12 hours at a time.

- Be comfortable being exposed to harsh weather conditions and rough seas.

Responsibilities: Scheduled shifts at office/shop, including required patrolling aboard our towboats; vessel maintenance including cleaning, routine engine maintenance; light repairs; responding to emergencies such as sinking/sunk vessels, grounded/beached vessels, etc.

Work locations: Beverly, East Boston, Hingham, Marshfield.

A diving certification allows for additional compensation opportunities.
