Job Description Litigation Associate – Complex Litigation
Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a talented Litigation Associate with 4–6 years of post-JD experience to join its sophisticated litigation practice. Positions are available in Boston, Denver, New York, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Washington, DC.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator to handle complex matters, work alongside sophisticated litigation teams, and take on significant responsibility in high-stakes disputes.
Responsibilities
- Draft sophisticated briefs and motions for district and appellate courts.
- Manage large-scale and complex discovery, including substantial document productions and litigation teams.
- Take and defend depositions and handle motion practice.
- Represent clients in state and federal court proceedings.
- Participate in negotiations, meet-and-confers, and communications with opposing counsel.
- Develop case strategy and contribute to complex litigation matters.
Qualifications
- 4–6 years of post-JD litigation experience; prior law firm experience preferred.
- Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical skills, including experience drafting briefs for district and appellate courts.
- Experience managing significant discovery processes, including large document productions and discovery teams.
- Strong deposition and motion practice experience.
- State court litigation experience required.
- Excellent strategic thinking and judgment.
- Strong work ethic and ability to manage complex matters effectively.
- Experience working collaboratively with large litigation teams.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission and membership in good standing in the jurisdiction where the attorney will be based.
- Ability to contribute positively to a collaborative, high-performing environment.
