Position Summary:

The Hotel Security Floater is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, visitors, employees, and property assets at multiple luxury hotel locations throughout the Greater Boston area. This position serves as a flexible security resource, providing coverage at various upscale properties as operational needs arise.

Unlike traditional security roles, success in this position requires a balance of professional security practices and exceptional customer service. Officers are expected to represent both the security company and the hotel brand with professionalism, discretion, tact, and hospitality-focused service.

Compensation: $19/hr bi-weekly
Part-time float

Responsibilities

You will conduct the following responsibilities upholding Tarian’s commitment to safety and security while supporting the values and culture of the client and community.

  • Security Officers are responsible for maintaining security and safety throughout the organizaion - and serve as a visible deterrent to illegal activities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
    • Work across multiple luxury hotel properties throughout Boston and surrounding areas.
    • Adapt quickly to varying site procedures, layouts, client expectations, and operational requirements.
    • Maintain familiarity with each property's emergency procedures, security systems, and service standards.
    • Provide coverage for vacations, call-outs, special events, increased occupancy periods, and other staffing needs.

    Successfully complete site-specific training at assigned hotel locations

    Professional Expectations

    Security Officers assigned to luxury hotels are expected to provide more than traditional security services. Officers must demonstrate exceptional hospitality, discretion, and professionalism at all times. The ideal candidate understands that in an upscale hotel environment, security is often delivered through courteous assistance, guest engagement, and proactive service rather than enforcement alone. The ability to blend strong security awareness with world-class customer service is essential to success in this role.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Completed High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable licenses or certifications
  • Strong vision abilities including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for an entire work shift, move or lift objects up to 80 lbs.,
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet Tarian driving guidelines if applicable (for Driving Roles).

Employment Verification

Desired Qualification of the Security Officer:

  • Previous work experience with the public in a service setting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work hours will vary depending on assignments, client schedules, project deadlines, and the needs of the company. Workweeks may exceed 40 hours and may involve any of the 7 days of the week, depending on the needs of the business. The work environment may be fast-paced and stressful or may also be quiet and slow-paced. All environments and pace of work will require alertness and ability to perform under pressure.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk for variable amounts of time throughout an assigned shift; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects 25 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently engages in mental concentration, analysis, and formulation.
