The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced sustaining software engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining existing software products, with a focus on quality, reliability, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Identify and fix bugs in the software
- Work to come up with solutions to resolve future bugs in the software
- Optimize the performance and scalability of the software
- Ensure the overall quality and stability of the software
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to characterize and prioritize bugs
- Participate in code reviews to ensure that the software meets standards for quality and maintainability
- Write and maintain documentation for the software, including release notes and technical documentation
- Provide technical support to users and customers as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2-4 years of experience in software development
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Experience with Python, Linux, Git, and pytest
- Experience with RDMS, preferably PostgreSQL preferred
- Experience with IoT and software driving instruments and other hardware
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
- A track record of successfully maintaining and improving software products
- Ability to work effectively with customers and stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with biology and genetics
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment tools
- Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS)
- Experience with agile software development methodologies
