Intellectual Property Attorney

A growing law firm is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Attorney to join its IP practice. This role involves advising clients on the protection, enforcement, and commercialization of intellectual property assets across a range of industries. The ideal candidate will have experience in intellectual property prosecution, counseling, and/or litigation and will thrive in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to at least one U.S. state bar in good standing
  • 3+ years of intellectual property experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following: patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, copyright law, IP litigation, or IP transactions
  • USPTO registration preferred for patent-focused roles
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage matters independently while collaborating with a team
  • Strong communication skills and a practical, business-oriented approach

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on intellectual property strategy, protection, and enforcement
  • Draft and prosecute patent, trademark, and copyright applications as applicable
  • Handle IP enforcement matters, including infringement analysis and litigation support
  • Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, including licenses, assignments, and NDAs
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate, clearance, and due diligence analyses
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to align IP strategy with business objectives
  • Stay current on developments in intellectual property law and industry trends
