Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available in an elementary school setting in North Adams, MA. This contract role is ideal for educators specializing in special education who are experienced working with students who have significant cognitive and physical disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students in sub-separate classrooms covering K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade levels.
- Manage a severe caseload that includes students with significant disabilities, including those who are non-verbal and on the autism spectrum.
- Assist with toileting and other personal care needs.
- Collaborate with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who support some students.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Use applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques and specially designed instruction strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with students having severe cognitive and physical disabilities.
- Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) methods.
- Skilled in creating and delivering specially designed instruction.
- Ability to work effectively onsite in a classroom environment.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Previous experience supporting toileting and other personal care tasks preferred.
