The Williston Northampton School is an independent co-educational boarding and day
school in Easthampton Massachusetts and is a culturally diverse educational community
serving grades 7-12. We are seeking to hire a full-time Middle and Upper School Visual Arts Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This position is responsible for teaching four sections of Visual Arts in courses ranging from introductory middle school arts courses, drawing, studio basics, and/or sculpture, through AP Studio Art. Exact course load is flexible based on experience. The Visual Arts Teacher will be a middle school advisor to six to eight students. This position includes involvement with our afternoon athletics and/or afternoon arts programming. This position could come with additional leadership opportunities within the Visual and Performing Arts Department. Living on campus and working in the Schools residential life program may also be an option with this position. Driving a school minibus is an expectation of this position.
Strong candidates will have middle and high school teaching experience, preferably within
an independent boarding school environment. The candidate will possess a Bachelors in a
relevant field; a masters degree is preferred. The candidate is responsible for creating and updating plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum and will demonstrate a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, strong writing and communication skills, creativity, and a collaborative mindset. Candidates must possess the flexibility, energy, commitment to teamwork, and appreciation for adolescents that life in an independent school boarding community requires. Candidates must be able to successfully complete the state-mandated CORI, as well as SORI, a general background check, and a fingerprint-based criminal background check.
