Middle School Life Skills Special Education Teacher – Amherst, NH

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a middle school Life Skills program in Amherst, New Hampshire. This is a great opportunity for an educator who enjoys working closely with students who need individualized academic, behavioral, communication, and functional life-skills support.

Position Details

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to middle school students in a Life Skills classroom

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

• Teach functional academics, communication, social skills, independent living skills, and other individualized goals

• Modify curriculum and instructional materials based on student needs

• Track student progress and maintain required special education documentation

• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, general education teachers, families, and school administrators

• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings

• Maintain a structured, supportive, and positive classroom environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field

• New Hampshire Special Education teaching certification/licensure or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification

• Experience working with students with moderate to significant disabilities preferred

• Experience in a Life Skills, functional academics, or self-contained classroom is a plus

• Strong communication, organization, classroom management, and collaboration skills
