A contract opportunity is available for a dedicated nurse to support student transportation needs. This role is ideal for an LPN interested in making a meaningful daily impact without in-school responsibilities. The position focuses solely on morning and afternoon transport for a student who may use mobility aids and AAC devices and requires medical oversight during travel.
The contract extends over the Extended School Year (ESY) from July 6 through August 9 (Monday through Thursday) and continues into the following school year if desired. Work averages 15-20 hours per week, with split shifts in the morning and afternoon.
What you’ll bring:
- Active LPN, LVN, or RN license as required by state regulations
- Experience in school nursing or pediatric care, especially comfort supporting students with mobility challenges or non-verbal communication
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with attentiveness to the unique healthcare needs of children
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with families and school personnel
- Willingness to complete fingerprinting and meet school onboarding procedures
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
- Safely accompany the assigned student during bus rides to and from school
- Provide medical monitoring and support as needed throughout transport
- Assist or supervise student mobility as necessary during embarkation and disembarkation
- Communicate regularly with the student’s care team regarding any medical or routine updates
- Ensure a calm and supportive environment throughout the bus ride
