Purpose of Position
Perform computerized tomographic procedures of designated anatomical areas as requested by physicians, by applying ionizing radiation according to established practices and procedures in a manner consistent with prescribed radiation protection safety standards.

Responsibilities
- Perform computed tomography scanning procedures at a technical level requiring attention to detail, independent judgment, and initiative.
- Operate control console for patient's scan and select proper imaging techniques.
- Operate various peripheral hardware and equipment.
- Maintain, set-up, and adjust equipment, checking calibration and recalibrating as necessary.
- Position patient on examination table and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area, observing all health and safety precautions, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
- Receive and review requests for radiologic studies.
- Provide explanations of procedures and answer patient questions to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
- Attend to the physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations to ensure safety and comfort.
- Assist the physician and/or nurse with monitoring and treatment of patients during procedures.
- Record all required information to provide permanent records of significant and/or functional anatomical or pathologic data.
- Apply principles of radiographic protection using beam restriction devices and patient shielding skills to minimize radiation exposure.
- Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency, ensuring timely completion of work in compliance with department policies.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and maintain adequate radiology records for proper identification.
- Assist physician with administration of radiographic contrast media if trained and sanctioned.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of departmental and hospital policies and procedures, including fire and disaster plans.
- Comply with infection control policies and procedures.
- Participate in activities promoting professional growth and development, meeting continuing education requirements as directed by relevant registries and licensing bodies.
- Maintain an ethical relationship with patients, physicians, personnel, and guests, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) Accredited Radiography Program.
- Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Valid Massachusetts State License in Radiation Control.
- Certification from an accredited CT program or current registration in CT by the ARRT.
- Three years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist or one year of current (within the last five years) CT Tech experience.
- Current BLS certification.
