POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Water Polo Coach, from October through November 2026 & April through May 2027, is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive water polo program that fosters a safe, positive, and engaging environment. This role focuses on teaching proper skills and techniques, building confidence, and growing participation from beginner to competitive levels.

SCHEDULE: Thursday 6:00-7:30pm & Saturday 9:00-12:00pm

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Lead all lessons, practices, and dryland training sessions
  • Ensure proper use of pool space, adherence to pool rules, and implementation of appropriate dryland drills
  • Enforce all safety protocols, including active supervision and reporting of incidents or concerns
  • Work collaboratively with the Aquatics Director to build and grow a structured learn-to-play program that feeds into a competitive team
  • Maintain and oversee equipment to ensure safety and proper working condition
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, families, and aquatics staff
  • Attend all required staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Maintain accurate records, attendance, and program data
  • Provide advance notice if unable to work scheduled shifts and coordinate approved coverage
  • Arrive on time and prepared for all scheduled sessions

  • Strong technical knowledge of water polo and athlete development

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create a positive, safe, and fun environment while promoting skill development and a love for water polo
  • Plan and lead practices for a range of ages and ability levels, emphasizing fundamentals, progression, and safety
  • Teach proper fundamentals & techniques, introduce new skills, and provide detailed feedback and performance analysis
  • Lead all water polo lessons, practices, and dryland training sessions
  • Ensure proper use of pool space, adherence to pool rules, and implementation of appropriate dryland drills
  • Enforce all safety protocols, including active supervision and reporting of incidents or concerns
  • Work collaboratively with the Aquatics Director to build and grow a structured learn-to-dive program that feeds into a competitive team
  • Maintain and oversee diving equipment to ensure safety and proper working condition
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, families, and aquatics staff
  • Attend all required staff meetings and in-service trainings

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N / A

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on the pool deck for extended periods
  • Ability to lift or assist participants when needed
  • Exposure to pool chemicals and varying temperatures
