Step into a meaningful contract position supporting young adults in their transition to independence. We're seeking an empathetic and skilled educator to join a vibrant 18-22 Year Old Transition Program focused on developing functional, life, vocational, community, and social skills. This full-time role runs from ASAP through June 16, 2027, and offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team of three paraprofessionals. The students’ skill sets span a broad range, making adaptability and individualized instruction essential.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Special Education Teaching Certification is required
- Experience working with transition-aged students (18-22) is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with students, families, and support staff
- A commitment to empowering young adults with diverse abilities as they navigate real-world settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop tailored lesson plans and activities that build daily living, pre-employment, community integration, and socialization skills
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment, recognizing and responding to individual strengths and needs
- Collaborate regularly with paraprofessionals to differentiate instruction and maximize student engagement
- Monitor student progress and document growth, adjusting instruction as needed
- Encourage self-advocacy and independence, guiding students in community participation and vocational experiences
