Duration: Contract / Project-Based (Phase 1 & Phase 2 scope)
About the ProjectOur customer recently attempted an upgrade from Oracle APEX 4.2 to APEX 24.2 and encountered major issues due to unsupported direct upgrade paths. The environment hosts 120–130 APEX applications, many of which are broken post-upgrade. This is currently a test environment on VMware, with production migration planned as Phase 2 once remediation is complete.We are seeking an experienced Oracle APEX consultant who has successfully executed complex upgrades and migrations to stabilize the environment, remediate broken applications, and then migrate production workloads.
Responsibilities

• Assess the upgraded APEX environment (4.2 → 24.2) and identify application and platform-level issues.
• Remediate and stabilize existing APEX applications (120–130 apps).
• Advise on best practices for multi-version APEX upgrades and handle deprecated features.
• Coordinate and perform the import of changes from production into the remediated environment.
• Lead the migration of the production environment to the upgraded/stabilized platform.
• Document remediation steps, migration process, and provide knowledge transfer to internal staff.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on Oracle APEX experience (development, upgrades, remediation).
• Proven track record with Oracle APEX upgrades across multiple versions(ideally including 4.x).
• Strong Oracle PL/SQL and SQL expertise.
• Solid understanding of Oracle Database administration concepts (backups, migrations, schema management).
• Experience troubleshooting legacy APEX applications and refactoring for modern versions.
• Familiarity with VMware-hosted Oracle environments.
• Ability to handle large-scale APEX portfolios (100+ applications).
• Strong communication and documentation skills to guide stakeholders through phased project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience upgrading environments with multiple intermediate APEX versions(e.g., 4.2 → 5.x → 18.x → 24.x).
• Exposure to automated APEX testing or validation frameworks.
• Prior consulting background with short-term remediation projects.

Engagement Scope

• Phase 1: Remediate and stabilize test environment.
• Phase 2: Import production changes and migrate production environment.
