Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working with a small, dedicated group of students as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Life Skills and Intensive Needs. Serving 5th and 6th graders, this full-time role is available immediately and runs through June 2027. With just three students in this program, you’ll be able to provide individualized support and meaningful instruction, truly making an impact each day.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification in Special Education required
- Previous experience teaching or case managing students with intensive needs strongly preferred
- Ability to develop and implement effective, customized Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with families, support staff, and administration
- Patience, adaptability, and creativity in instructional strategies
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, and supportive classroom environment
- Organizational skills for managing documentation and progress monitoring
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as case manager for 5th and 6th grade students in a Life Skills program
- Design individualized lesson plans focused on academic, social, and daily living skills
- Track and report student progress towards IEP goals
- Oversee and support paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
- Regularly consult with parents and related service providers to ensure consistent and holistic student support
- Modify curriculum as needed for a wide range of learning abilities
- Foster inclusion, independence, and a sense of accomplishment
