Make a positive impact supporting students with visual impairments in a K-12 educational setting near Haverhill, MA! This contract opportunity offers onsite instruction as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the 2026-2027 academic year. You’ll collaborate with a dynamic educational team and use your expertise to help students access curriculum, achieve learning goals, and advocate for their needs.
Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts DOE teaching license with Visually Impaired endorsement
- Successful completion of relevant MTEL exams
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
- Ability to adapt materials for students with low vision or blindness
- Flexibility to work either full-time or part-time hours onsite
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, grades K-12
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs), including progress monitoring and documentation
- Adapt and modify instructional materials for accessibility
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to ensure accommodations are met
- Train staff and educate peers on best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
- Offer consultation to families and participate in IEP meetings
- Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality
