Step into a fulfilling role supporting students at the high school level as a contract Registered Nurse for the 2024-2025 school year. This onsite, full-time position offers the opportunity to provide 1:1 nursing care for a student attending a specialized educational setting, from August 26th through June 15th. You’ll make a real difference each day, helping a student with Diabetes Insipidus manage their health safely and confidently in the school environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN certification or licensure required
- Prior experience as a school nurse, with demonstrated skills in a school-based setting
- Successful background in providing individualized healthcare support, especially with complex medical needs
- Competence in assisting with mobility (wheelchair use and ambulation support)
- Ability to administer daily medication and monitor for signs of sodium imbalance
- Dependable transportation to and from school
- Committed availability to work scheduled hours; punctual and reliable
Core Responsibilities:
- Meet the student at school daily and provide one-on-one nursing care throughout the school day
- Monitor and ensure correct fluid intake
- Assist the student as needed during restroom breaks (wheelchair assistance; student is independent with toileting)
- Administer a noon dose of medication and observe for any symptoms that require urgent attention
- Maintain clear communication with school staff and support the student’s well-being
- Adhere to all protocols, privacy requirements, and best practices in school nursing
This role requires you to be onsite from 8:30am-3pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8:30am-2pm on Wednesday. No scheduling accommodations are available.
