Job Description
We are working with a prominent New England law firm, seeking a hands-on IT Manager to lead technology operations from its primary office in Boston. This is a high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the Executive Director, responsible for overseeing a regional infrastructure that supports a high-availability, 24/7 legal practice.
Ideal candidate will have IT experience within a legal system and leading implementations of new software across organizations.
This is a full-time on-site role in Boston, MA.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee all technical and administrative IT functions, including infrastructure, information security, and the end-user experience for a multi-office firm.
- Guide the responsible implementation of AI-enabled features within legal productivity software and lead migrations to next-generation billing and practice-management systems.
- Ensure 24/7 uptime through robust management of Microsoft 365, Azure, backup/disaster recovery environments, and document management systems.
- Maintain enterprise-level networking (firewalls, switches, circuits) while fostering a culture of risk reduction and strict compliance.
- Manage and develop a Level 1 direct report, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth through the ITSM/ITIL model.
- Act as the primary point of contact for managed service providers and third-party technology vendors.
What You Need to Succeed
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Cloud technologies (M365/Azure) is required. You must be comfortable with "hands-on" troubleshooting alongside high-level planning.
- Proven history managing modern networking tech, endpoint management, and enterprise-grade hardware.
- A strong understanding of ticketing, incident management, and change control processes.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with senior partners and executive leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Ability to travel periodically to regional offices (within a 2.5-hour radius) and participate in on-call rotations for emergency scenarios.
- CISSP, CISM, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Azure certifications.
