Surgical Dental Assistant

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Dental Assistant to join a pure periodontal specialty practice in Natick, Massachusetts. This is a full-time role supporting both surgical periodontal procedures and restorative/prosthodontic treatment, requiring a well-rounded assistant who is confident across specialties.
Candidates must have prior surgical experience and be comfortable assisting with restorative and prosthodontic workflows in a specialty environment. This role offers a consistent weekday schedule, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities
Surgical Assisting
- Assist periodontists during surgical procedures including implant placement, bone grafting, extractions, and periodontal surgeries
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical operatories and trays
- Follow strict infection control and sterilization protocols
- Monitor patients pre- and post-operatively and provide post-operative instructions
Restorative & Prosthodontic Assisting
- Assist with implant restorations, prosthodontic procedures, and restorative workflows
- Support impressions, digital scans, try-ins, and final delivery appointments
- Prepare materials and instruments for restorative and prosthodontic cases
- Ensure accuracy in case setup and coordination with providers
General Clinical Support
- Provide efficient chairside assistance with a strong focus on patient comfort and clinical flow
- Take and review radiographs as needed
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and charting
- Support smooth daily operations within the practice
Required Qualifications
- Valid Dental Assistant license in Massachusetts
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Prior surgical dental assisting experience (required)
- Experience assisting with restorative and prosthodontic procedures (required)
- Experience in a periodontal, prosthodontic, or specialty practice strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical and restorative instruments, materials, and workflows
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, professional chairside manner
Compensation
- Hourly rate: $28–$33 per hour
- Annualized compensation: Approximately $58,240–$68,640 per year, based on full-time employment
