Job Title: Senior Project Engineer
Job Type: Full-Time / Exempt
Location: Concord, NH/ Portsmouth, NH
Travel: As required
Salary: $100k-$115k
Position Summary
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for performing advanced engineering work and supporting the successful delivery of infrastructure and engineering projects. Working under the direction of the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, this role leads design efforts, supports project execution, and mentors junior staff while ensuring work is completed in accordance with scope, schedule, budget, and industry standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Project Execution
- Lead and execute engineering tasks for medium to large-scale projects
- Apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and regulations
- Perform complex design calculations, analyses, and technical problem-solving
- Manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously
- Maintain accurate project documentation, calculations, and records
- Track project budgets, costs, and progress for assigned work
Design & Technical Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final engineering designs
- Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Perform and verify design calculations and review work completed by others
- Evaluate equipment and system designs and support basis of design development
- Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and cost estimates
- Support permitting efforts and coordinate with regulatory agencies
- Participate in proposal development, including scope, schedule, and budget input
- Ensure all deliverables meet QA/QC and company standards
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide guidance and direction to junior engineers, technicians, and field staff
- Collaborate with Project Managers to coordinate project staffing and execution
- Support team development through mentoring and technical oversight
- Participate in internal meetings, project planning, and resource coordination
Client & Stakeholder Interaction
- Communicate directly with clients during design and project execution
- Support presentations to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
- Represent the company at meetings, conferences, and industry events
Construction Support
- Provide engineering support during construction, including site visits and inspections
- Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs
- Assist in resolving construction issues and responding to change orders
- Participate in construction meetings and coordinate with contractors and field teams
- Review QA/QC testing results and ensure compliance with design intent
- Support system startup, commissioning, and closeout documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 6 months
- 6+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, codes, and standards
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software (e.g., Bluebeam preferred)
- Ability to quickly learn new design and modeling tools
Work Environment & Requirements
- Combination of office and field-based work
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Valid driver’s license required
- OSHA 10 certification preferred

Pay Details: $48.00 to $55.00 per hour
