The Residential Site Manager (Deaf Residential Services) will directly support in the provision of Leadership, Engagement, and Advocacy for Deaf Empowerment and Resilience. This role is responsible for providing direct support/care to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and/or DeafBlind residents with some indirect services (i.e. administrative duties) as a team leader.
This may include:
● Assists with training, coaching, and support of Deaf Residential Services staff
● Provides input for the development of Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
● Advocate/ambassador for other Direct Support Professionals in Deaf Residential Services
● Leads bi-weekly staff meetings to ensure program consistency and open communication
● Assists in providing American Sign Language (ASL) instruction (informal or formal) to MCS staff
● Taking residents out into the community for recreation and/or social events, medical appointments, shopping;
● Coaching residents in the area of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) (i.e. cooking, cleaning, proper hygiene);
● Ensuring the safety and well-being of each resident;
● Completing documentation on a consistent and timely basis
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Training
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- High school diploma, or equivalent; Associate degree in Human Services or related field, highly preferred
- Minimum of 4 years working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and/or DeafBlind individuals, preferably in a residential or educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Proficiency in written English and competent in computer applications
- Knowledge and awareness of Deaf culture, cultural diversity, and knowledge of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind service delivery system
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
