The Test Development Engineer designs, develops, and maintains test equipment and test plans that support manufacturing and operations for both existing and new products. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, efficient, and accurate testing, while providing hands-on technical support and driving continuous improvement in test strategies and equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and debug test equipment used in manufacturing and operations to ensure reliable and efficient product testing.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and test equipment for existing and new products using inputs from design and hardware engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing engineering, validation engineering, and product management.
  • Maintain and improve current production test equipment to ensure consistent performance and uptime.
  • Support new test equipment strategies for new products in partnership with manufacturing engineering and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to quality, manufacturing, and engineering teams on a wide variety of test-related tasks and issues.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate documentation for both existing and newly developed test equipment and fixtures.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on test equipment and fixtures to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Perform soldering, wiring, and setup of test equipment and fixtures to enhance test coverage and reduce false failures.
  • Execute test plans on new and existing test fixtures and document results as required.
  • Troubleshoot test equipment, fixtures, and analog circuits at the component level to identify root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Use electronic test tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and frequency counters to validate performance and resolve issues.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and procedures to support test development and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate effectively with the quality assurance group and other stakeholders to drive test process and equipment improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to build effective working relationships and solve complex technical problems.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for personal development and contribute to the ongoing growth of the engineering and manufacturing teams.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in test development, test engineering, or a closely related electrical engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with component-level troubleshooting of analog circuits.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW for test development, execution, or automation.
  • Ability to design, debug, and maintain test equipment and test fixtures for manufacturing environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and frequency counters.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical procedures.
  • Experience executing test plans on new and existing test fixtures and documenting results.
  • Ability to perform soldering, wiring, and setup of test equipment and fixtures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and engineering stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience developing test plans and equipment based on inputs from design, hardware engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing engineering, validation engineering, and product management.
  • Familiarity with validation processes and validation engineering practices.
  • Experience maintaining detailed documentation for test equipment, fixtures, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated mindset with a strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working on a variety of technical tasks, from preventive maintenance to complex test system debugging.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing environment where test equipment and fixtures support the production of products used in everyday life. You will work hands-on with electronic test instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and frequency counters, as well as with test fixtures and LabVIEW-based test systems. The position involves close collaboration with design, hardware, quality, manufacturing, and validation engineering teams, offering strong opportunities for career growth and skill development within a structured and process-oriented setting. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Derry, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $115000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
