RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting Campers
- Support campers (middle school aged)of all abilities in successfullyparticipatingin camp activities, support may be provided in a one to one or small group setting;
- Review in camper data to better understandcampers that maybenefitfromadditionalsupports while at camp and support the implementation of those supports by informing Team Leaders and Group Leaders in direct work with that camper;
- Identifyand implement strategies that support campers withAutism, ADHD,anxiety disorders,and other abilities to thrive at camp;
- Create and support spaces that provide social-emotional or therapeutic supports for campers across camp, including sensory break spaces, quiet meal spaces, etc.;
- Provide conflict resolution and mediation for campers using restorative justice practices, ensuring all parties feel heard, understood, and safe;
- Support the development and growth of a positive camp culture by providingadditionalsupport to campers and colleagues as needed and at community-wide events, including, but not limited to, performances, lunch, and the ferry;
Collaborate across teams to improve camp:
- Communicate with other teams, including administrative leadership, camper support, and Family Servicesregardingcampers who may requireadditionalsupport and resources;
- Assess how program areasand partnerscan offer modifications to programming to ensure inclusive participation by campers, supporting the implementation of these modifications;
- Other duties that support the Camp Harbor View community as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 21+ years of age;
- B.A or B.S. inSocial Work or a related field;
- Experience insupporting children usingyouth development principles;
- Ability to work with youth withdifferent abilities;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to be adaptable in a quickly changing environment;
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and coaching; and
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
