Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school in Nashua, NH is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This contract position requires expertise in facilitating clear and effective communication between students, teachers, and staff by interpreting spoken language and sign language in educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and professional sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school events.
- Facilitate clear communication among hearing-impaired students, educators, and peers.
- Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment by supporting equal access to curriculum and activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to accommodate students communication needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Experience working as a sign language interpreter in school settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of educational terminology and teaching methods.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Relevant certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter is an advantage.
