Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented family law paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of family law paralegal experience and understanding of high asset and complex cases, litigation, mediation and collaborative law. The successful paralegal will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of case management. This role requires excellent organizational skills, communication skills, professionalism, confidentiality, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a commitment to providing the highest-quality legal service and support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare draft legal documents related to complex family law cases, including final decrees of divorce, financial affidavits, nuanced asset division schedules, divorce initiation documents, parenting plans, and support related documents.
- Conduct thorough discovery review, confirm accuracy of information provided, ascertain missing information, and assemble facts in a concise and organized manner.
- Review incoming discovery and draft letters following up on insufficiencies.
- Track documents produced, received and outstanding.
- Prepare discovery to be propounded based on the type of case and issues in dispute.
- Contact witnesses to discuss potential testimony.
- Track deadlines and ensure all deadlines are met and filings are submitted in a timely manner.
- Manage electronic files and maintain organized records for ongoing cases.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary information and documentation for their cases.
Qualifications
- More than 10-15 years of experience as a paralegal with experience in family law.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and concise letters, pleadings, summaries and legal documents.
- Knowledge of basic finances, investments, tax returns, corporate matters and real estate is a plus but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and online file maintenance techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
