Job Description Cybersecurity & Privacy Associate
Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a mid-level to senior Cybersecurity & Privacy Associate with 3+ years of relevant experience to join its growing Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice.
The ideal candidate will have experience with cyber incident response, cybersecurity investigations, privacy and cybersecurity counseling, or cybersecurity matters within a government agency. This is an opportunity to take on significant responsibility advising leading technology companies on complex cyber, AI, and privacy issues.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on cybersecurity incidents, crisis management, and regulatory response.
- Represent companies in cybersecurity, privacy, and AI-related investigations.
- Counsel clients on privacy and cybersecurity compliance and best practices.
- Provide cybersecurity guidance in connection with technology and corporate transactions.
- Advise cybersecurity companies on legal issues involving security research and threat intelligence.
- Help clients navigate evolving cybersecurity, AI, and privacy regulations.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant experience in incident response, cybersecurity investigations, cybersecurity counseling, or related government work.
- Experience advising private-sector clients on cybersecurity and privacy matters strongly preferred.
- Relevant cybersecurity or privacy experience with a state or federal government agency is a plus.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Superior academic credentials.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to take significant responsibility and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Active bar admission and membership in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.
