We are seeking an Application Support Specialist passionate about healthcare technology and clinical operations. This role empowers vascular surgery practice teams with hands-on EMR support, training, and workflow optimization across multiple locations. The specialist will be the primary resource for EMR-related issues, ensuring accurate data entry, efficient workflows, and compliance with healthcare standards.
The role involves delivering one-on-one and group training, performing system audits, assisting with reporting, and collaborating closely with clinical leadership and IT teams. Our primary EMR systems include Epic and Athena, with potential exposure to other platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for EMR-related questions, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Provide in-person and virtual training for new staff, plus ongoing education for existing users.
- Ensure EMR patient data accuracy, completeness, and standardization.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to optimize workflows and increase EMR efficiency.
- Conduct periodic quality assurance reviews to identify and correct data inconsistencies.
- Support the tracking and documentation of device-related and clinical outcomes in the EMR.
- Maintain and update training materials, user guides, and workflow documentation.
- Assist with system configuration, reporting, and other project-related tasks.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy.
- Reliable transportation for travel to office locations for scheduled and ad-hoc visits.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to clinical and administrative staff.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, support requests, and training schedules.
- Basic proficiency with EMR systems (Epic, Athena, or similar) and spreadsheet tools (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or equivalent experience.
- Up to 2 years of experience in application support, EMR support, clinical systems training, or healthcare IT.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills for professional growth.
- Familiarity with healthcare terminology, particularly in vascular surgery or medical devices.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare data privacy best practices.
- Adaptability to work in a multi-location environment with varying workflows.
Working Conditions
- Onsite work required at designated offices, with travel to multiple locations as part of regular duties.
- Company locations span Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut; travel to these states is required.
- Occasional after-hours work may be needed to address urgent IT issues or system maintenance.
