Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A school is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students across various grade levels, including K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. This contract position is based in Derry, NH, and offers competitive compensation ranging from $33.65 to $39.67 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and staff.
  • Interpret classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and school events across grade levels K-12.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure students have full access to educational content.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience in an educational setting.
  • Ability to interpret effectively for students across elementary, middle, and high school grade levels.
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of cultural sensitivity related to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
  • Flexible and adaptable to varying school schedules and environments.
