Job Description

ADDICTION PSYCHIATRIST

OUR ORGANIZATION

JAMAICA PLAIN MEDICAL CENTER

BOSTON, MA

The Department of Psychiatry at our organization is on the lookout for full-time Addiction Psychiatrists to deliver outpatient and/or residential services at our Brockton and Jamaica Plain locations. Our facility serves as a national hub for medical research and is a referral center for the New England area. We have academic partnerships with prestigious institutions such as Harvard Medical School and Boston University Medical School.

We have two openings at the Jamaica Plain campus, which will involve a combination of direct clinical responsibilities in residential and transitional care, outpatient substance abuse clinics, and a methadone clinic. Additional duties may include teaching and supervising trainees, such as medical students, residents, and fellows. There may also be opportunities for site directorship of addiction training for residents, administrative responsibilities, and the pursuit of academic interests, including research. An academic faculty position will be supported at either Harvard Medical School or Boston University School of Medicine.

As a leading referral center for Veterans' healthcare in New England, our organization boasts strong academic ties with Harvard Medical School and the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Our healthcare system comprises three medical center campuses and five community clinics. We are recognized as a top-tier teaching hospital and frequently listed among the Best Places to Work by the Boston Globe. Experience a profound sense of personal and professional fulfillment by contributing to our mission of serving Veterans.

The ideal candidate will engage in a balanced combination of direct clinical care, teaching, and supervision of psychiatry residents and medical students. The appointment level—Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor—will be determined based on experience, training, and accomplishments. This role offers a highly competitive salary, an attractive leave and benefits package, and eligibility for up to $200,000 in Educational Debt Reduction, along with a potential $10,000 Recruitment/Relocation Incentive.

Requirements: Candidates must be Board Eligible in General Psychiatry and/or board certified in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine. A commitment to serving Veterans, along with strong clinical, supervisory, and interpersonal skills, is essential. The successful applicant should be eager to collaborate within an outstanding interprofessional team. U.S. citizenship is a requirement.

We are proud to be equal opportunity employers, and all qualified candidates will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions, or any other characteristic protected by law. We encourage women and minority candidates to apply. Please note that a drug test is mandatory for this position, and it is subject to random drug testing.
