Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM–2:00 PMJob Summary:The Welder supports production by performing routine and non-routine welding activities on standard and near-standard assemblies. This role involves hand-welding and robotic welding, component preparation, equipment operation, and collaboration with the production team to maintain quality and efficiency.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine hand-welding and robotic welding on standard and near-standard assemblies.
- De-burr, grind, fit, and finish components as needed; grind and polish completed assemblies.
- Block, jig, or position parts prior to welding to ensure proper alignment.
- Assist other operators as required to maintain workflow.
- Work from manufacturing information, bills of material, written and verbal instructions.
- Determine necessary parts, inventory, jigs, and fixtures; retrieve materials from stock.
- Prepare components by wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding prior to welding.
- Collect scrap and place it in appropriate containers; perform documentation or recordkeeping as needed.
- Operate welding and fabrication equipment including spot welders, arc welders, plasma, TIG and MIG welders, cutting torch, power grinder, power sanders, hand tools, bandsaws, drills, fixturing devices, jigs, and fixtures.
- Maintain equipment by dressing welding electrodes, adjusting machine settings, changing tooling, oiling, greasing, and performing minor adjustments.
- Complete required maintenance check sheets and alert supervisors or maintenance personnel of equipment issues.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to all environmental, health, and safety rules.
- Use ventilation equipment and appropriate PPE during welding operations.
- Support plant and department goals by flexing into other tasks as needed.
- Participate in on-the-job training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a teamwork-focused environment aligned with company philosophy and continuous improvement objectives.
- Apply general knowledge of the Client Quality Management System (EQMS).
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school.
- Six (6) months of welding experience OR a technical diploma/certification in welding.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of Worcester, MA.
- Relocation assistance is not available.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- 1–3 years of welding experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read formal and informal engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of basic shop math and welding symbols.
- Experience reading and following standard work instructions.
- Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer knowledge (Windows-based programs).
- Experience using measuring tape, calipers, and other gauges.
- Ability to adjust or change tooling parameters.
