A contract opportunity is available for an experienced registered nurse specializing in stepdown care within an acute surgical setting. This role involves providing high-acuity nursing care for post-operative patients requiring intermediate monitoring and intervention. The position operates primarily on 12-hour night shifts totaling 36 hours per week on a schedule of every other weekend (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized nursing care to patients transferred from PACU or SICU, including those recovering from cardiothoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, trauma, and transplant procedures.
- Independently read, interpret, and respond to telemetry rhythm strips.
- Administer medications using automated dispensing systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes on a 38-bed unit.
- Maintain patient ratios averaging 1:3 to 1:5 depending on patient acuity.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years recent acute care nursing experience.
- Proven surgical stepdown unit expertise is mandatory.
- Previous experience in IMCU or surgical stepdown environments.
- Successful completion of telemetry testing and critical care medication testing on day one.
- Experience across tertiary care facilities preferred.
- Completion of more than one prior travel assignment preferred.
