How This Role Makes a DifferenceCare Access is seeking a skilled and experienced Instructional Designer, Clinical Education to join our dynamic Clinical Education Team, part of the Global Expansion and Study Operations department. The Instructional Designer, Clinical Education plays a key role in designing and developing high-quality instructional materials that enhance the learning experience for clinical and operational staff. This position supports the creation of engaging, effective, and accessible learning solutions aligned with organizational goals, compliance standards, and adult learning principles. The ideal candidate brings a passion for education, a creative and learner-centered approach, and a strong foundation in instructional design methodologies and e-learning development—preferably within healthcare or clinical research environments. How You'll Make An Impact

  • Design and develop engaging, instructionally sound learning content for clinical and non-clinical staff, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual ILT (vILT), job aids, videos, and knowledge checks.
  • Design and develop study-specific training materials, including protocol overviews, procedural guides, and compliance-related modules, to support clinical research site staff in the execution of individual trials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to collect content, define learning objectives, and transform technical or clinical information into clear, learner-friendly educational materials.
  • Create detailed storyboards and instructional plans that outline the flow, pacing, and structure of learning modules, ensuring alignment with adult learning principles and clinical education goals.
  • Utilize multimedia tools and technologies to enhance learning experiences by incorporating graphics, animations, audio, and interactive elements that support engagement and retention.
  • Develop e-learning content using authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise), ensuring materials meet accessibility, branding, and instructional design standards.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews on instructional content to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to design standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality benchmarks.
  • Support learning evaluation and feedback processes, making data-informed updates to content based on learner input, performance metrics, and stakeholder recommendations.
  • Collaborate on Learning Management System (LMS) integration, including formatting, testing, uploading, and maintaining learning content within the LMS to ensure accurate deployment and user access.
  • Assist in triaging and debugging issues or reported errors in legacy courseware.
  • Assist in maintaining course catalogues, including properly documenting new releases, sunsets, and edits.

The Expertise Required

  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories, with the ability to apply models such as ADDIE, SAM, or Agile Learning to real-world learning scenarios.
  • Proficiency with e-learning development tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise), Adobe Captivate, and other content creation platforms.
  • Skilled in multimedia integration, including graphics, video, voiceover scripting, and interactivity to enhance learner engagement.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and experience formatting, uploading, and testing content for deployment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex clinical or technical concepts into clear, accessible training materials.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with experience working cross-functionally with subject matter experts (SMEs), clinical staff, and education teams.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to content accuracy, compliance, and instructional integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, in both remote and hybrid settings.
  • A growth mindset, with a willingness to receive feedback, stay current on learning technology trends, and continuously improve design practices.

Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and e-learning content creation, preferably in healthcare, clinical research, or another regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing learning content using instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Rise, Captivate) and multimedia development software.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to translate complex content into engaging, accessible learning materials.

How We Work Together

  • Location: Remote within the United States. This role requires 100% of work to be performed in a remote office environment.
  • Travel: This is a remote position with less than 10% travel requirements. Occasional planned travel may be required as part of the role.
