Pay Growth: Eligible for consideration for a raise after 90 days, with additional raises and performance bonuses considered every April thereafter.

Rocky Ridge Excavation is seeking an experienced, dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our excavation and site work crew. This position is ideal for someone who is confident operating equipment, takes pride in quality work, and is willing to be part of a small, hands-on team. Reporting to the Foreman.
Our operators aren't expected to sit in a machine all day. As a small crew, everyone pitches in when needed, including performing general labor and groundwork to help keep projects moving.
What You'll Do
- Safely operate excavators, skid steers, rollers, and other heavy equipment
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation
- Work on driveway, drainage, septic, site work, retaining wall, demolition, and related projects
- Read grades and work to established elevations, slopes, and project specifications
- Perform finish grading and other detail-oriented equipment work
- Assist with loading, moving, and placing gravel, soil, stone, and other materials
- Perform daily equipment inspections and help maintain equipment in good working condition
- Identify and communicate equipment maintenance or repair needs to on-site Foreman or Owner
- Work safely around utilities, structures, trucks, other equipment, and crew members
- Assist with general labor, groundwork, material handling, and job-site cleanup when needed
- Work as part of a small crew to complete projects efficiently and to a high standard
- Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Previous heavy equipment operating experience
- Experience with excavators and skid steers strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of grading, excavation, and safe equipment operation
- Ability to work independently while also taking direction and working as part of a crew
- Dependable and able to show up on time and ready to work
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Willingness to get out of the machine and assist with general labor when the job requires it
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 50+ lbs.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Valid MA Hoisting Engineer License (2A/1C) (note: out of state applicants will be asked to complete and pass course within 90 days of employment or as dictated by schooling and test deadlines.)
- CDL Class A or B with air brake certification, preferred but not required.
Pay & Opportunity to Grow
-Starting pay ranges from $25–$33/hour depending on experience and skill level.
-After 90 days of employment, employees are eligible to be considered for an immediate pay increase based on performance, reliability, and demonstrated skill. From there, we review opportunities for additional raises and performance bonuses every six months.
