LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Dental Hygienist reports to the Dental Hygienist Supervisor
PURPOSE: To provide direct preventive care to patients. The range of tasks varies from
performing periodontal procedures and placing sealants to patient education;
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform periodontal and preventive procedures.
- Properly take and analyze patient health history, patient education.
- Take radiographs.
- Maintain instruments and machinery (sterilizer, autoclave).
- Proper cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
- Sharpening instruments.
- Be current on new requirements for sterilization and maintenance of equipment and operatories.
- Be current on infection control.
- Maintaining stocked hygiene supplies.
- Accompany patients to/from waiting area.
- Call patients to confirm, schedule and cancel appointments when the front desk is unable to do so or to fill openings in your schedule.
- File charts each day.
- Maintain professional relationship with patients when in the office.
- Maintain professional manner and appearance while in the office.
- Participate in community outreach programs as requested.
- Avoid outside activities which might have a direct negative affect on the practice.
- Be prompt and see patients in a timely manner.
- Assist dentist as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position will be located in Huntington and Worthington, with one day required at our Amherst location.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be certified as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current Massachusetts license or a limited license candidate with at least one year of hygiene experience.
- 0 – 2 years experience
