Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Description
This role oversees and directs all on-site activities for commercial construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, and in alignment with project requirements and quality standards. The Construction Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to coordinate daily field operations and maintain strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all on-site construction activities for commercial projects from mobilization through closeout.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure efficient and safe execution of work.
- Conduct daily site inspections to verify quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications and requirements.
- Monitor project milestones and proactively identify schedule risks, delays, and potential impacts, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Facilitate regular meetings with owners, architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to review progress and resolve issues.
- Serve as the primary field representative and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to ensure accurate and effective project execution.
- Coordinate required inspections and ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Oversee site logistics, including manpower planning, material deliveries, equipment utilization, and site organization.
- Enforce project safety standards and company policies, promoting a safe work environment for all personnel.
- Manage punch list activities, ensuring timely completion of outstanding items prior to project turnover.
- Oversee turnover documentation and project closeout activities, ensuring all deliverables are complete and accurate.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or in a similar construction leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial construction and construction management.
- Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (CSL) required.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, safety, and quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, MS Project, or similar platforms.
- Proven ability to coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, owners, architects, and subcontractors.
- Solid knowledge of construction safety practices and standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Experience managing commercial construction projects in a superintendent or assistant superintendent capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate schedule risks and delays.
- Experience conducting and documenting daily site inspections for quality and safety.
- Ability to lead effective project meetings with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make timely, field-based decisions.
- Detail-oriented approach to project documentation, punch list management, and project closeout.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Worcester, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $77.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
