Job DescriptionDeli Clerk / Deli AssociateMcKinnon's Market is looking for a dependable, friendly, and hardworking team member to join our Deli Department. This position is responsible for assisting customers, preparing and packaging deli items, stocking and maintaining deli cases, and helping keep the department clean, fresh, and well organized.The right candidate will enjoy working with people, take pride in quality food, and be willing to learn. Previous deli, kitchen, retail, or customer service experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.ResponsibilitiesProvide excellent customer service with a friendly and helpful attitudeAssist customers at the deli counter, including slicing, weighing, packaging, and pricing productsPrepare, package, stock, rotate, and merchandise deli itemsLearn what makes McKinnon's products different and be able to explain them to customersKeep deli cases full, fresh, clean, and attractiveMaintain back stock in good orderFollow proper food safety, sanitation, and product handling proceduresSafely use knives, slicers, and other deli equipmentMaintain a clean, safe, and organized work area for both employees and customersAttend department and store meetings as neededFollow all company policies and regulatory requirements, including food safety, HACCP, OSHA, Department of Labor, Weights and Measures, and local sanitation lawsPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsPrevious deli, kitchen, culinary, retail, or customer service experience preferredBasic knowledge of deli products helpfulAbility to provide excellent customer service and communicate clearly with customers and team membersAbility to safely handle knives, slicers, box cutters, and other equipmentAbility to work well as part of a teamReliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work a flexible schedule based on store needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredPhysical Requirements / Working ConditionsStanding and walking for extended periods, up to 8–10 hoursBending, stooping, reaching, lifting, and climbing as neededAbility to perform repetitive tasks throughout the shiftAbility to lift heavy items without assistance when requiredWork in varying temperatures, including coolers and refrigerated areasUse of slicers, knives, box cutters, and other deli equipmentMandatory use of required personal protective equipmentMcKinnon's Market is a local, family-owned market known for quality products, great value, and friendly service.
