Job Description Summary:
- Primarily responsible for performing the regular daily operations of the Vascular Laboratory, including integrating the responsibilities with the other technical employee(s) within the laboratory.
- Performs non-invasive and vascular ultrasound testing and provides preliminary interpretation.
- Manages regular day-to-day operations to ensure efficient operation of the unit.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Comprehensive understanding of vascular anatomy, pathophysiology and hemodynamics in order to recognize normal and abnormal vascular structures, function and abnormalities of blood flow
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics and measurements of blood flow, including the biological effects of ultrasound
- Familiarity with other types of diagnostic tests (i.e. clinical laboratory tests, peripheral angiography, CT
- scans) and be able to integrate vascular ultrasound results with the results of such other tests
- Well versed in medical terminology
- Critical thinking and the ability to effectively manage emergent situations
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in completing tasks
- Demonstrates superior customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:
Education: Graduate of an accredited program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and registry eligible required
Experience: Minimum of 1 (one) year of experience performing a wide range of vascular ultrasound exams preferred
Certification: Required to obtain Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) within 6 (six) months of employment. Additional certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) preferred.
Must maintain active certification through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. ▪ Competent in ultrasound reporting systems
