Job Title: Journeyman Electrician – High-End Residential
Job Description
This role focuses on installing, wiring, and troubleshooting electrical systems for high-end, ground-up residential new construction projects. You interpret blueprints and electrical schematics, install advanced lighting and smart-home technologies, and ensure all work complies with Massachusetts electrical codes and safety standards. You collaborate closely with contractors, designers, and homeowners, and may guide an apprentice on site to help deliver reliable, high-quality electrical installations.
Responsibilities
- Install and wire electrical systems for new high-end residential construction projects from ground up.
- Interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to plan and execute complex electrical layouts with precision.
- Install lighting systems including recessed lighting, smart lighting, architectural fixtures, and landscape lighting.
- Set up electrical panels, sub-panels, and perform service upgrades in accordance with Massachusetts electrical code.
- Integrate smart-home technologies such as automation systems, electric vehicle (EV) chargers, and whole-home networking.
- Run and install conduit as required for residential electrical construction.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and long-term performance.
- Maintain full compliance with state and local electrical codes and all applicable safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with general contractors, designers, sub-contractors, and homeowners to ensure seamless project execution.
- Document work performed, maintain accurate records, and communicate project progress to stakeholders.
- Work from detailed construction plans and specifications to meet project timelines and quality expectations.
- Potentially manage and mentor an apprentice electrician working alongside you on job sites.
Essential Skills
- Active Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License.
- Proven experience with residential new construction electrical work.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and construction documents.
- Hands-on experience installing and wiring electrical systems in high-end residential properties.
- Proficiency in installing lighting systems including recessed, smart, architectural, and landscape lighting.
- Knowledge of setting up electrical panels, sub-panels, and performing service upgrades in line with Massachusetts electrical code.
- Experience integrating smart-home technologies such as automation systems, EV chargers, and whole-home networking.
- Solid troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and repairing electrical issues safely and efficiently.
- Ability to run and install conduit in residential construction environments.
- Capability to communicate clearly and professionally with contractors, designers, sub-contractors, and homeowners.
- Readiness to oversee and guide an apprentice electrician on site when needed.
- Ownership of basic journeyman electrician tools required to perform daily tasks.

Work Environment
You work primarily on multi-million-dollar residential new construction projects, including large-scale, luxury homes in Massachusetts. The setting involves active construction sites where you collaborate with other trades and professionals to deliver sophisticated electrical installations. You use standard journeyman electrician tools and materials typical for residential construction, including wiring, panels, fixtures, and conduit. The role is site-based, requiring you to be comfortable navigating high-end properties under construction and adhering to all relevant safety practices and site protocols.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boxborough, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
