We're looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair the fleet of vehicles and equipment for our Public Works Department. In this role, you'll take the lead in diagnosing, servicing, and overhauling diesel and gasoline engines while ensuring our fleet operates safely and efficiently year-round.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform skilled diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles, including engine overhauls, brake and suspension work, clutch replacements, and electrical system repairs.
- Operate and maintain a preventive maintenance program, keeping detailed service and repair records in the DPW Computer Maintenance and Management System.
- Service and repair power equipment such as compressors, jackhammers, and mowers.
- Order, track, and manage parts inventory; assist in developing vehicle specifications.
- Operate vehicles for snow removal, sanding, and plowing during the winter season; perform emergency highway operations as needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all applicable safety procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanics preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in gas and diesel engine repair or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, and proficiency with mechanics tools.
Preferred:
- CDL B license with air brake endorsement.
- Hoisting license.
